| Portrait Experience We feel to benefit the most from your session with us, it's important to be informed of the process and what you can expect. The following briefly describes just that. Consultation We want you to get the best portraits possible. In doing so, we start with a no obligation portrait consultation, to visit with you and discuss what it is that is important about having your portrait created. We want to get to know you better and have that translate into images that truly reflect who you are. We'll also talk about the possible locations, clothing and overall look that you want the images to say. Should you decide to book your appointment with us, the session fee is due when scheduling the portrait session. Session fees are non-refundable, however, should you find the need to cancel, you may apply the amount paid to any other sessions within 1 year. Session This is where the fun begins! During the portrait session we'll work to have it a comfortable and relaxed environment - where you'll never feel rushed. Depending on the type of portrait session, you can plan somewhere between 45-90 minutes for the session. This usually allows enough time with smaller children for a bit of play, snacking and for an extra clothing change for the session if you wish. We'll work as long as it takes until we're confident we've captured the images necessary to fit our artistic vision. Very often, people leave feeling more like extended family than clients - which is a good thing! While we have a nice variety of backgrounds and props available to use during the session to coordinate with your style of clothing, you're certainly welcome to bring an item yourself. After the portrait session is completed, if we haven't yet, we'll schedule the time for you to come back to the studio to view and order from the images captured. Proofing and Ordering Session Approximately 2 weeks after your portrait session, you'll come back to the studio for your personalized proffing and ordering session. You will get to see the results of our work projected in a customized slideshow presentation to music that beautifully showcases your portraits. These sessions are always fun and sometimes can be quite emotional too. We will use specialized software to help you narrow down your favorites and take a look at the many creative options available once you've make your selections. As an added convenience, we also are pleased to offer a variety of custom framing options to best compliment your artwork. All images ordered will be fully retouched and enhanced to look their best. They are also mounted and receive a lacquer coating so they'll continue to look their best for many years to come. As with many other professions, quality takes time. Please allow 4-6 weeks for your final prints to be perfected for you. Order Delivery Once your order is completed, we will contact you to set up a time for you to take delivery of your photographic artwork. Every print that leaves the studio framed comes with our J GALLUS PHOTOGRAPHY Lifetime Guarantee. Should anything happen to your print after it leaves the studio, we will replace it free of charge. With all wall portrait orders, we also offer a complimentary service to come to your home and hang your treasured artwork. We want you to truly feel like you have had an 'Experience' when you become a client of ours. We realize that there are many different choices when it comes to selecting your portrait photographer and we want it to be as effortless and rewarding as possible. |
| Portrait Recommendations There are several things to consider prior to having your portrait created. One of the more important things to plan for is clothing. Taking a few minutes to coordinate your outfits will greatly contribute to the overall look of your portraits. Children Infants look wonderful in simple, one piece outfits, or nothing at all. White cloth diapers or diaper covers are timeless and create wonderful portraits. Tank top style shirts look fantastic on little girls and white undershirts or polo shirts are great for little boys. If in doubt, bring several options and we'll be happy to help you choose what will work best for the session. We do stock a few basic props for children, but use them minimally so as not to destract from their natural expressions. You are more than welcome to bring something that is special to your child - such as a blanket, books or toys. Families We've found with photographing families or groups, it is best to have everyone dress in similar tones to have a more unified look. Pohtographing portraits while barefoot can help add to the overall experience, as well as children find this to be a lot more fun too. Wearing shirts that are long sleeved with a scoop or V-necks tend to be most flattering. Singles For those that like to keep updated images, most often for online dating services and profiles there seems to be a bit more freedom with clothing choices. Several changes of clothing during the session allow for a great variety of looks. Solid color clothing is certainly recommended as it keeps the focus on the expressions. It is best to avoid clothing with large prints or logos. Maternity With maternity sessions, it is best to keep elastic waistbands off your belly for at least an hour before the session as well as avoid lotions and oils on your skin the day of the session. Elastic waistbands are likely to leave marks, and lotions and oils reflect light on the skin and are prone to leave a shiny residue in the photograph. |
